Day 26 Blog Challenge - My Favourite Food

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

What's My Favourite Food?

Anyone who knows me will tell you that my favourite food is french fries.

I don't really understand why, because they're nothing more than deep fried potatoes with salt but I just love them!

All fries, too!

Whether they're made from fresh potatoes, or bought frozen from the store.

They can be baked or deep fried.

You can put almost anything you want on them!
  • Gravy and cheese, with some bacon bits, peas and corn.
  • Or a vegetable curry!
  • Or you can eat them plain,
  • or have a dipping sauce.
  • And of course ketchup!
What's your favourite food?

Day 25 Blog Challenge - Decsribe My Location

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Where I Live

The city I live in is nicknamed Lamebridge. That should pretty much sum it up.

The best part about living in Lamebridge is that we're close to the 401, and bigger cities like Toronto, Guelph and London are only half an hour to an hour away so if we do get bored and want to see a concert, go to a vegan restaurant or go shopping we don't have to go too far.

Right now I live at my mom's house. We did have our own apartment but decided to move back home when it got too difficult to keep up with the rent and follow our dreams. I just got so tired of struggling to pay bills and working a horrible job for 44 hours a week just to make minimum wage. Now I can spend time on things that are more important to me, like Sidney, my hobbies and go to college.

My mom's house is just an average sized house in an average neighborhood. We have an alright sized backyard where we can go swimming, garden and the kids can play. There's an elementary school, parks and convenience store nearby. I prefer living closer to downtown, where everything is in walking distance. My apartment was in the perfect location. I don't even have friends in this neighborhood, so I spend a lot of time just with my family.

There are some nice things about living in Cambridge.

  • We have a lot of walking trails along the Grand River.
  • We have a huge artist community; programs and events that support local artists.
  • There's a lot of family activities around at the library, the parks, for the holidays, at the mall.

And that's about it.

After college I want to move to a different city. I don't know where yet, probably closer to Toronto like Mississauga or Oakville or just somewhere in that general area. For now, this is alright though.

What's it like where you live?

Day 18 Blog Challenge - Where Are You Happiest?

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Where am I happiest?

  • I'm happiest when surrounded by good friends and family.

  • I'm happiest with Sidney by my side, giggling and happy.
  • I'm happiest when I'm outside, especially during the summer.
  • I'm happiest when I'm out in the wilderness. Camping, hiking, at the beach, picnics in the park.
  • I'm happiest in our backyard, the smell of food on the barbeque, playing in the pool with the kiddos.
  • I'm happiest in my comfy bed at the end of the day, snuggled into my blanket and pillow, with our cat Oliver at my feet and a good book in my hands.
  • I'm happiest when I'm in Nick's arms, listening to his heart beat.
  • I'm happiest wherever my family is.
Where are you happiest?

Day 13 Blog Challenge - Regret

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Regret - "to feel sorrow or remorse"

I suppose there are a few things I regret, but I try not to. The reason for this is because pretty much all the events and experiences that have taken place in my life are what have lead me to this point. I may not have my house or my dream career, but I have something much more important. My family, for one.

And I've learned a lot.

For example, I used to want so much material possessions, but after going a couple years learning to go without (due to a lack of funds) I realized how unimportant those things are and how to enjoy the simple things in life.

My one real regret is that I stopped exercising on a regular basis. I used to be a lot thinner, but more importantly I used to be a lot healthier!

I used to workout almost daily, and sometimes twice a day. I ate a lot better, and enjoyed it.

Then, I sunk into a depression. I don't like making excuses for things, but that was a difficult time in my life. I felt like things would never be normal again, and I was doomed for a life of misery (pretty lame, but like I said - that experience taught me a lot).

But it was during that depression that I just couldn't stand the idea of doing anything that I didn't absolutely have to (like care for my daughter, complete school work, go to work). So exercising got the boot, and as time has passed my depression has gotten better but my body took a lot of stress.

I gained a bunch of weight, my muscles have gone to mush, and I feel like crap all the time.

I'm so out of shape I don't even know where to start! Like an idiot, I tried to jump right back in where I left off. Clearly that didn't work out. I have to start all over again, from the beginning!

But yeah, that's my biggest regret. Letting myself get so out of shape. The worst part is, I always thought I was fat! I may never have been "skinny" but I was never fat. And my biceps were huge!

Now I get to lose weight all over again! I've already been there, done that. I know what works and what doesn't. I know how to keep it off - don't stop exercising! And now I might even appreciate my health more than my "ideal" weight.

What do you regret?
