How Do You Like Your Lentil Sprouts?

My Lentils Sprouts Are Ready to Eat!

It's been five days since I first started sprouting my lentils, and they're finally ready to eat!

I enjoy trying new foods, but these do kind of look strange so I was a little scared to eat them at first. They're actually really good tasting! I've been munching on them throughout the day and put them in a wrap for lunch. Tomorrow I'll throw some in a salad.

To Sprout Lentils

You need:

  • A Jar
  • A Sprouting lid,
  • Or you can use cheesecloth or some other material (I used some scrap sheer fabric leftover from making my produce bags) held on with an elastic.
  • Dry lentils

Directions:

  1. Rinse your dry lentils a few times. (First post here)
  2. Soak them over night in water.
  3. By the next day they should have expanded. Rinse them well multiple times throughout the day. (Second post here)
  4. Continue to rinse them often for the next couple of days.
  5. By the fifth day they should be fully sprouted and ready to eat!

In the picture - havarti cheese, romaine lettuce, lentil sprouts and ranch dressing. Not shown - I added tomatoes, cucumber, green peppers and onions. In my own opinion, it was so delicious! The lentil sprouts added a nice crunch. Other than that they don't have much of a flavour on their own.

Since this was such a success I plan on sprouting other things in the future and will keep you posted!

Thanks,
