Day 3 Blog Challenge - What Makes You Happy?

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Today's challenge is to write down whatever makes me happy. There are a lot of things that make me happy, probably more than I can write in one sitting so I'll try to keep it short.
    • My giggly, hyper and wonderful daughter
    • Talking with my super supportive and awesome Mom and Grandma
    • Being in love with my wonderful hubby
    • Going camping with my family
    • Gardening, watching my plants grow over time
    • Nature walks with Nick and Sid
    • Admiring art done by others
    • Thrift shopping and going to the farmer's market
    • Comedy movies, especially ones with Adam Sandler
    • Cold beer on a sunny patio
    • Reading a good book that I can't put down
    • Thunderstorms
    • Having a Tim Horton's coffee
    • Eating fries on the beach
    • Taking pictures
    • Going to small cafes
    • Learning new things, researching, reading
    • Writing
    • Peanut butter and apples
    • Vanilla scented candles
I'll stop myself before this list gets way too long.

Day 2 Blog Challenge - Favourite Quotes

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

    Favourite Quotes

One of my favourite authors is Stephen King. His entire book On Writing could be considered my favourite quote, but I'll just pick one sentence.

This quote is one hundred percent true for me. I have anxiety problems and sometimes it's pretty bad. Starting anything can be scary for me. Even calling to order a pizza can take me 5 to 10 minutes just to dial the number but once I've done it and the person answers I'm fine.

I also read this quote somewhere (I think it was on Pinterest) and often find myself repeating it over and over again when times feel tough, or things aren't working out how I want them to.

And I have many, many more favourite quotes because I am a quote junkie. I actually have an entire Pinterest board for inspirational quotes!

    Month In Review - February

    Goodbye February. Hello March!

Can you believe we're already two months into 2013?

This month has been an interesting one. I've made a lot of progress with my goals, and even though there has been some stress in my personal life I'm some how managing to move forward.

At the beginning of the month I did a little bit of self-reflection to figure out what I really want out of life and learned to appreciate what I have.

I got accepted into college and applied for funding this month, which is a huge achievement and I'm very excited about it!

I also started to make small lifestyle changes to work towards being healthier, like getting enough water throughout the day.

I made some major dents in my organizing goals. My dresser got cleaned out and I've said goodbye to over half of my wardrobe. I also parted ways with my beloved magazines by coming up with an organizer to keep my favourite articles.

I even went back in time to talk about my teen pregnancy and the emotions that came with that.

I turned 23 years old last month, too. And celebrated my 6 year anniversary of being with my wonderful Nick. And now I can look forward to another month, and if I can help it I'll stay positive. Maybe I will even accomplish some more goals, like finding a job.

    How was your February?

    Thanks,

Day 1 Blog Challenge - A Little About Me

Okay, I just discovered this today but I think it sounds like a lot of fun and I want to participate!

    5 Random Facts About Me

    1. I can't stand having my picture taken, by anyone, not even myself.
    2. I'm terrified of the dark to the point where I will have an anxiety attack.
    3. People thought I was "scary" in high school.
    4. I fantasize about being the lead singer in an awesome rock band, but can't sing.
    5. I've been trying to grow my hair long since I was 17 but find long hair way too annoying and always end up cutting it by the time it reaches my shoulder.

    Magazine Article Organizer

    Too Many Magazines

If you read my Week in Review post on February 16th, you might remember that I decided to
get rid of all my magazines.

I had a pretty large collection of magazines. I like reading articles a lot, and it’s way more comfortable to cozy up on the couch with a magazine or a book over my laptop. However, having over 50 magazines laying around because I like a few articles in each of them doesn’t make any sense to me.

I also want to keep some of these interesting articles. Articles that inspire me, inform me, amuse me. Articles on parenting, gardening, health, money and business, interior decorating. Just little tidbits of information I think I could use for later, either for a future blog post, or a project around the house, or both.

    Organizing My Magazine Articles

So I dug out an old binder, purchased some dividers from the dollar store and made an article keepsake book. I can now cut out and keep my favourite articles all in one small space without keeping an entire magazine around. And because it’s organized by category I can flip through it easier to find which article I’m looking for.

For example, if I felt like writing a post on how to budget, I could flip to my Business and Money tab and easily look it up. Much easier than trying to remember which magazine I thought it was in to end up having to flip through a dozen or more.

    Categories I Included:

    • Health
    • Business/Money
    • Decor
    • Art/Crafts
    • Gardening
    • Holidays
    • Happiness
    • Family
Another idea instead of a binder is putting your favourite articles into a filing system. I was considering doing this, but my filing cabinet is pretty full already and I like being able to grab my binder and flip through it.

Now I have to decide if I should stop buying magazines altogether.

I’ll just have to try to enjoy reading articles online, but if I do pick up a magazine (which won’t be nearly as often now) I can always recycle it afterwards. There’s no need to hold onto magazines any more, but there’s also no need to completely go without something small that offers me a great deal of enjoyment.

Do you like to keep magazines for particular articles, or do you normally throw them out after reading them?

    Thanks,
    Cole
