Day 28 Blog Challenge - My Guilty Pleasures

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

My Guilty Pleasures

I have a lot of guilty pleasures. I'm kind of self indulgent.
  • I love eating way too much. Junk food is definitely a guilty pleasure especially BBQ Doritoes and Reese Buttercups. Want to know why this is a guilty pleasure? Because somehow, every time I eat BBQ Doritoes, I eat the entire bag.
  • Having pajama days and not doing anything productive. Do you ever allow yourself those days? Can't say they come very often, but they sure are fun! I often feel guilty when I think about it because I hate not getting things done.

What are some of your guilty pleasures?

Day 24 Blog Challenge - My Most Embarrassing Moment

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Today is all about embarrassing yourself right?

My Most Embarrassing Moment?

I could sit here for hours writing a list of my "embarrassing" moments. As someone who is extremely uncoordinated and clumsy, I have a lot of accidents. Falling down stairs, tripping on my own feet and landing flat on my face, dresses and skirts never work out well for me, I've ripped so many pants I can't even count them all, I say the wrong thing all the time and often walk into things such as people and walls pretty much daily actually.

But to be honest, I think I'm so used to doing stupid things that I just don't get embarrassed very easily. I've also built quite the paint tolerance. I barely even notice when I've stub my toes now.

I want to be able to tell stories like everyone else though, so here's a two embarrassing moments:

For a full year I worked in the seafood department of a grocery store. On nights I had to work late, and Sidney had to sleep over at my mom's house, I would stop by the pub where my boyfriend worked after my shift - smelling like fish.

But that's not even my embarrassing story, it's just something I find hilarious.

Actually, this one evening while working I noticed a draft on my behind when in the freezer, and noticed I had ripped my pants! I don't know when it happened, just that this rip was huge and I wasn't wearing full underpants that day. I ended up grabbing a coat from the meat department and wrapping it around my waste to cover my butt so I could finish my shift. All of my coworkers kept asking me what was with the coat, and I kept having to explain it to everyone.

Another time while in high school, my friends and I went to the trail by the river at lunch to smoke and when I went to light it I burnt my bangs and in a flash they were all gone. There was a group of guys near by who saw it and laughed hysterically at me. Not to mention, I had to go home and explain it to my parents. I told my mom I was playing around with a lighter (and not smoking anything)... Which she didn't believe so I got in trouble. But the worst part was having no bangs or hair at the front for a few weeks.

In all honesty, I don't even find these things that embarrassing.

What's your most embarrassing moment?

Day 21 Blog Challenge - My Biggest Fear

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Gertrude the Spider - She was bigger than my hand.

What Do I Fear?

I hate to admit this, but I fear a lot of things. I try not to think of things that scare me, because 99% of the time those fears will never actually happen.

Ridiculous Fears:

I am scared of aliens. More like the idea of aliens. I can't even watch E.T. because I will have nightmares.

I'm scared of spiders. Not just big spiders, all spiders. One time while walking on a trail at Riverside Park my friends and I came across a spider that was bigger than my hand, and it had an egg sac beneath it. Until that day I never knew there spiders that large in this area of Canada.

In 2009 I spent an entire year terrified I was going to die from a brain aneurysm. I went to the E.R. twice, and even made my doctor give me a CAT scan. Eventually I found out that all of those headaches were a result from having TMJD.

Realistic Fears:

I'm a little bit scared of going to college. I have no idea what to expect, or how I will be able to manage school, raising Sidney and continuing my hobbies. I think it's normal to be a little bit scared of such a big change/challenge.

I'm super, duper shy. I hate meeting new people, I hate public speaking, I almost passed out during every high school presentation. I don't like being the center of attention, I don't like people looking at me when I'm out in public.

Fears I Try Not to Think About:

As a parent I'm always worried that something bad might happen to Sidney. That she might get hurt, or sick, someone might take advantage of her, or other kids will hurt her feelings and the list can go on and on. Obviously these are fears I try not to think about, but sometimes I can't help it.

What are you afraid of?

Day 18 Blog Challenge - Where Are You Happiest?

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

Where am I happiest?

  • I'm happiest when surrounded by good friends and family.

  • I'm happiest with Sidney by my side, giggling and happy.
  • I'm happiest when I'm outside, especially during the summer.
  • I'm happiest when I'm out in the wilderness. Camping, hiking, at the beach, picnics in the park.
  • I'm happiest in our backyard, the smell of food on the barbeque, playing in the pool with the kiddos.
  • I'm happiest in my comfy bed at the end of the day, snuggled into my blanket and pillow, with our cat Oliver at my feet and a good book in my hands.
  • I'm happiest when I'm in Nick's arms, listening to his heart beat.
  • I'm happiest wherever my family is.
Where are you happiest?

Day 17 - Why and When Did You Start Blogging?

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

The Art Piece we did at D3 Artworks Inc. I'm the short one on the left.

When and Why Did I Start a Blog?

I started reading blogs more than two years ago on a regular basis. Blogs were more appealing to me because you could find all these interesting ideas, crafts, tips and recipes, but it was because of the actual blogger that I wanted to stick around and read more.

The summer of 2012 while working at D3 Artworks Inc. I really got back into being creative and wanting to write more. One of my co-workers had a blog and that's when I decided that I wanted one too. Working at D3 also gave me the self confidence I needed to be able to put myself out there, because before I was too scared to actually write a blog.

I'll admit, I had a couple of blogs before this one but none of them were really me and I couldn't commit to writing on them regularly. Around the time I opened my vintage Etsy shop in October, I decided I should have a blog just for my shop. That blog is still around, my mom writes on it more than I do, but it's strictly for the shop.

Then in November I finally realized what I was passionate about. I may not have one singular hobby or interest that takes up a lot of my time, but I do have a little someone who does; Sidney.

Being a young parent, or a parent in general, is what motivates me. In the end, all of my decisions are based on what would be best for Sidney. Whether that decision is to go to school, start waking up earlier, setting a good example by eating healthier, going green or moving towards a more minimalist lifestyle.

I obviously don't have the best advice to give when it comes to life. I can probably tell you more on what not to do than what to do, but I can share my experience. I don't know what sharing my experience has to offer anyone, but I'm having fun doing it.

And that is why and when I started blogging.

Why and when did you start blogging?

Day 16 Blog Challenge - My Biggest Accomplishment

31 Day Blog Challenge - March

My Biggest Accomplishment

My daughter, Sidney, is my biggest accomplishment.

It's been tough, being a young parent, but Sidney has turned into an amazing little girl. She's kind, smart, happy, healthy and thriving. As most of my readers will know, I had my daughter when I was 17. It was terrifying, and amazing all at the same time.

Sidney is my greatest accomplishment not only because of how awesome she is, but because of all the things she has taught me and motivated me to do.

Having Sidney in my life has been an amazing adventure.

Another great accomplishment of mine is graduating high school, which was just last year. I dropped out to raise Sidney the way I wanted to. Finishing high school wasn't easy, but I want to be able to provide the best for my daughter.

And, I'm going to college this September!
