I Want Sprouted Lentils
My daughter thinks these look disgusting - even though she always eats lentils when I make them... I think it's the idea of them sitting in a jar of water that grosses her out. I bet you that once they've sprouted she'll enjoy eating them though.
I know that I personally love sprouts, especially alfalfa sprouts. The idea that I can make sprouts from lentils right at home just blew my mind. Who knew? Apparently a lot of people, just not me.
So, tonight my jar of dry lentils has to soak in water.
Tomorrow I can drain them.
Then throughout the day I have to rinse, drain, rinse, drain, rinse, drain.
And then continue for the next few days,
but eventually they will begin to sprout and those sprouts will get longer and longer.

And then! I can eat them.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Day 1 Directions:
- To start you put your lentils in a glass jar. You must rinse your lentils with cold water for a minute or two.
- Now you cover the lid with a screen, or cheese cloth, or if you're like me and don't have either of those maybe you want to use a piece of scrap sheer curtain from previously made produce bags held on with an elastic.
- Now they can soak overnight.
Tomorrow I will see if they worked so far.
Have any of you ever tried this? Did it work out? Were they delicious?!
